MUSCULAR CRAMPS
Greetings. I wish
to contribute my little experience! I have been a sportsman for a long
time now, having played lots of cricket and now having given up due to
age, taken up golf. Am playing golf for more than twenty years now.
What I have noticed with sportsmen,
attack of muscle CRAMP being very common. I have been having constant
problems throughout my sporting career which
continue. Through the suggestion of my late grand-mother, whenever I have
an attack of muscle or any body cramps, I take a glass of water mixed
with half tablespoon of salt. To me this has and is working wonders.
In fact, just two days ago with unexpected cold and rain, I was playing golf
with a group and started sensing cramp 'coming'. It turned out to
be severe. Whenever I now play golf, I carry a bottle of water mixed
with salt and immediately take a sip and continue playing until finish
without any pains.
I usually take a dose after a game,
especially when retiring for the day. I have also experienced that when
fast asleep and awoken due to muscle cramp, I take a sip and continue
enjoying uninterrupted sleep. Please note that I have not converted this
into a habit. I only do so if I feel very tired and sense a feeling of
cramps coming on. Bashir T, Watford, UK
MIGRAINES
Dear Phillip. When I
was in my teens, I suffered many migraines, as had my grandmother before
me. Nothing the doctors suggested seemed to work and I felt the drugs
I was given were very toxic so discarded them and learned to cope with
the migraines.
In my twenties, I found of my own
volition that drinking water and therefore 'flushing through my system'
seemed to stop migraines in their tracks. I later found through
reading about dehydration and following on from that about the
benefits of drinking water for migraines. If only the doctor had
told me when I was 13 about dehydration, I would have had easier teenage
years. I am now 61 and have only had a handful of migraines over
the years, all of which I have solved through drinking water and resting
until the attack is over. Sylvia B, Devon, UK
MIGRAINES, IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME
Dear Phillip. I began
increasing my water intake after reading Dr Batmanghelidj's book 'Your
Body's Many Cries for Water' some years ago (bought at one of your talk
evenings) and I know that, in addition to changing my diet, I have greatly improved
my health and vitality. In particular, migraine headaches, which
I used to suffer on a regular basis, became far less frequent and much
less severe. I also used to suffer from irritable bowel syndrome
and this stopped completely. If I ever feel a headache starting,
I drink a couple of glasses of water and it just disappears. At 63, I
have plenty of energy and stamina. I particularly notice when I
push myself to do an extra strenuous task such as a day's gardening or
decorating, I am always surprised how great I feel at the end of day.
It is not unknown for me to tackle the ironing or wash the kitchen floor
after a day's gardening! Back in the bad old days, I would have run
out of steam after a few hours.
I also used to suffer from aching joints,
in particular my hips and knees after a night of dancing, but the water
intake has definitely sorted out that problem.
I use only rock or sea salt,
which I grind myself and as I only cook from scratch. I always know
how much salt I am having. I steer clear of the chemical-laden table salt. Occasionally, after
exercising (I do a lot of walking), I will get cramp and having ruled
out that it is not due to dehydration, I deal with this by putting
a few crystals of salt on my tongue until they dissolve - taking care
to avoid letting it rest too long on the roof of my mouth otherwise it
can burn. The cramp soon disappears.
I still work full time in a large open
plan office and part of my job is being the Display Screen Assessor, which
means I have to check that everyone (and that's almost 100 people)
are comfortable at their computers, sitting correctly, etc. Many
of them used to complain of headaches, neck aches, backaches, etc, and
each time I asked how much water they drank. A vast number admitted
they drank no water at all(!) so I used to give them a print-out
of yours regarding the importance of drinking water, and more importantly,
the effects of not drinking water. As a result, the water
consumption in the office has dramatically increased and the headaches, aches
and pains have diminished. A lot of the guys often raise their glasses
to me across the office just to let me know they are continuing their
water! Kind regards, Jackie B, South Gloucester, UK
PS: I have been a big fan of yours
and the work done by Credence for a number of years. I regularly
put up your newsletters on health issues on the notice-board at work and
from the feedback I get, I know that a great number of people are 'getting
the message' so, keep 'em coming!
MIGRAINES
Dear Phillip. I have
been a migraine sufferer since my youth. After reading the book by Dr
Batman, I started to drink much more water. Ever since, my migraines have
become less and less severe and not nearly as often as before. Regards.

DIARRHOEA, HOSPITAL STAY
My Experience! Last October, I was unexpectedly sent to hospital, as a
result of six
weeks of diarrhoea. Whilst there, the tea trolley visited and lukewarm
water was placed by each bedside. In the night, having visited the toilet,
I took to yearning for a drink of cool, refreshing water. I poured some
water from a nearby basin and drank with relish, only to be told it was
not drinking water. My body had been dehydrated, needing a saline drip,
potassium and, with their diagnosis, steroids. If only I had been given
some lovely water instead of the dehydrating lorry-loads of tea. After
two weeks in the hospital, I was released and spent five months getting
better. My body knew best. WATER was the answer. I am now back on track
- no fizzy drinks, no coffee, little alcohol and loads of WATER ! With
love, Helen P
URINARY PROBLEMS
Dear Phillip. Whilst
this is not about salt, our dietary changes have made a difference to
us. Four years ago, my husband was rushed to hospital, not being able
to pass urine which in turn was poisoning his blood.
After 3 weeks in hospital and an operation, thankfully he was able
to return home and gradually recovered.
This was caused by not drinking enough and basically his kidneys
just silted up. Now we make sure that we drink a lot of water each day.
Penny S, Worthing, UK
RESTLESS LEGS
Dear Phillip. I have
found that drinking water helps the deeply annoying problem of 'restless
legs'. I don't know how or why, but the consumption of water works. Best
wishes, Michele L, Bury St Edmunds, UK
ASTHMA
Dear Phillip. In 2001 I wrote to a local newspaper
here on the New South Wales Central Coast (Gosford), outlining the
way to beat asthma. That is to say, when an attack is imminent the person
should drink water as soon as possible and then put a dab of sea salt
on the tip of the tongue. I explained the scientific rationale behind
these actions.
Three days after
the letter was published, I received a telephone call from a local resident
named Kurt. Kurt said he had followed the advice and declared it a ‘miracle’.
I invited Kurt to my house so I could explain the ‘miracle’ further.
He was a tall and skinny man with pale complexion and had other medical
problems besides his asthma. He worked in a large, dusty warehouse as
a forklift driver. He still had some medical problems, except now he had
not needed his asthma medication for five days.
He was still sceptical
about vitamins, minerals and a good diet of fresh vegetables and
fruit but would give it a try. I did not see Kurt for around six months
until I was shopping in a local supermarket. I walked past an employee
whom I vaguely recognised from somewhere. He called out to me, "Peter."
I turned. "It is Peter isn't it"? he said. "Yes",
I replied. "It's Kurt, I've got a new job here," he said. I
hardly recognised him, he was not so skinny and definitely not pale anymore.
He told me he had listened to the tape by Dr Batmanghelidj and that I
had probably saved his life. I told him he had probably saved his own
life by noting the advice, taking better care of himself.
In 2001 I went home to Harrogate in Yorkshire, where I had helped to arrange
a talk by you. While I was there, my brother-in-law told me he had just
been diagnosed with asthma. I explained the cause of asthma in about three
minutes and he said he would try the sea salt and water. He called
me two days later and said he felt like punching his doctor
on the nose for misleading him. Needless to say, I dissuaded him from
doing so. To date (May 2008) he still has not used an inhaler.
When a person is admitted
to hospital with a life-hreatening asthma attack, the triage nurse immediately
administers oxygen (two litres ph), and calms the patient. The doctor
then prescribes intravenous 9% sodium chloride (normal saline) SALTED
WATER. This is not a miracle drug but only a doctor can prescribe it and
place the cannula. The patient recovers and is released the following
day. No one tells the patient to increase their water intake and include
salt in their diet. All the asthma, hay fever and lupus sufferers I have
encountered tell me that "salt is bad for you!" The UK National
Health Service altered its nationwide advertising campaign on salt. Apparently
someone had threatened to sue due to misplaced advice. They now say that
"too much salt is bad for you". Suffice to say
that iatrogenics is still present, even in private hospitals! Regards,

PALPITATIONS,
FALSE APPENDICITIS PAIN, LOWER BACK, WEIGHT GAIN
Dear Phillip.
It must be over 15 years since I read Dr Batman’s “Your Body’s Many
Cries for Water”. The information from this book has had a lasting impact
on my life. At the time I suffered
from 1) Palpitations 2) Discomfort
in the appendix area 3) Severe lower back pain 4) Weight gain. I decided
to put Dr Batman’s theory to the test, and to my astonishment it WORKED!!! I went on to learn more about protecting my
health and changed my direction in life completely. I left behind my work
in conventional medicine and went on to study natural healing, which I
have been doing for the past 16yrs. Madeline

CHOLESTEROL, KIDNEY FUNCTION AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
Hi. I have been following
Philip's advice and reading the book The Hallelujah Diet since last October
(2007) and drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. My blood pressure
has reduced so much, I have been able to stop taking most of my tablets
for blood pressure. As I only have 50% kidney function, I am regularly
checked by the nephrologist. He is delighted with my progress and has
agreed I can reduce the medication. I am hoping to reduce the medication
again very soon. Also by abstaining from all animal products and white
flour, my cholesterol and triglycerides are normal and my cholesterol
medication is also reduced by 3/4. I feel a new person. I would
like to thank Philip for his books and weekly health tips. I live in Lanzarote,
Spain and all our friends are asking what's happening as we look and feel
so much better. Thank you, Ken S
MENOPAUSE
Dear Phillip. I would like to
say a bit about water. When I was going through the menopause I used
to get very hot and bothered and stressed (often for no good reason ).
I found that drinking a glass of water at that time calmed things down
enormously. It was almost magical. I also took a lot of Vitamin E at that
time , but the effect of the water was almost immediate. Regards, Janet

HEADACHES, CONSTIPATION
Dear Phillip. I have
been a member of the Eclub for some time and read your interesting information
on food, etc. As requested I would like to share my recent experience
with water, change of diet, etc.
Like many people, I also had the problem
of constipation and frequent headaches. Recently, I started taking one
and half litres of water in the morning within a short duration of 5-10
minutes. After this, I started good bowel movements and got rid of constipation.
Also the frequent headaches disappeared and now even if I go out in the
polluted atmospheres I still don't get headaches, which I used to get
frequently earlier.
Another important change is having early
dinner that is by 6.30 in the evening so this way your food would have
been digested before going to bed. This way you will not feel tired in
the morning as the stomach also gets rest in the night. Otherwise it will
be busy digesting the food taken very late in the night.
Another major change is giving up all
traditional breakfasts and eating only sprouts and dates in the morning.
Instead of tea or coffee I take vegetable juice. This has helped me to
be more energetic. Added to this, I have given up salt completely for
the last month as the required salt for the body comes from the sprouts
and other uncooked food I take.
Every one knows what is good and what
is bad, but the issue is whether they have control over their senses or
not to curtail their unhealthy desires. Dr S, Dwarakpuri colony, India
FOOD POISONING, WEIGHT
LOSS
Hi. I came to this whole
water issue when Phillip gave a talk in East Grinstead a couple of years
ago. Then read the "Water and Salt" book by Peter Ferreira and
only got to know Dr F Batmanghelidj’s work later. In the meantime,
I also read the book by Peter Jentschura/Josef Lohkämper.
I'm
male, 55 years of age, medium height. I weighed just over 100 kg and didn't
like it but was slowly getting resigned to ‘middle-age spread’. The gym
kept my body toned in general but did not bring about any weight
loss.
Then
over a year ago, I experienced mild food poisoning, after which I didn't
feel like eating anything for 2-3 days. This gave me a launching
point for a complete diet change. I started drinking sole
in the mornings and drank between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 litres of water
every day. Consequently I didn't feel so hungry and ate about a third
of what I used to eat before. I bought all my fruit and veg, bread,
butter, eggs and occasional meat at an organic farm nearby.
After
starting to drink lots of water, I noticed a dramatic improvement
in my overall physical well-being straight away. I noticed that my body
was detoxing and getting rid of ‘ballast’. I experienced all kinds
of dramatic and interesting phenomena, e.g. my palms and fingers suddenly
got so dry that the skin cracked and bled and wouldn't heal. This went
on for about a week... I didn't do anything about it, just went on
drinking lots of water. Then, from one day to the next, this phenomenon
vanished and my palms and fingers healed and became 'normal' again.
The
excess weight just "fell off" me - it was quite dramatic. Sometimes
colleagues were amazed by my visible weight loss, just over a weekend. I
lost 15 kg in 3 weeks and felt fantastic. I could wear clothes again that
I hadn't worn in years.
The
weight loss stopped at about 85 kg for about 8 weeks. Then I started to
put attention on eating more "alkaline" foods and avoiding "acid-producing"
food. That's when I began losing more weight, until I weighed
about 79 kg. So I'd lost 21 kg overall - 3 stones.
Now,
over a year later, I am still drinking 2-3 litres of water a day and eating
much less than I used to. I eat lots of raw veg, which I've grown
to love. When I feel "peckish" between meal times, instead of
snacking, I just drink a pint of water. It does the trick every time.
My weight has gone up a bit and hovers around 85 kg. I used to get bad
migraines a few times a year; so bad that I could not go to work for a
day or two. Not any more since drinking lots of water! I was probably
just dehydrated.
I
also used to get stomach upsets a few times a year, which used to
keep me at home for a couple of days. All this is gone and I am
healthier and feel a lot younger, physically.
"I did a lot of "missionary
work" among friends and colleagues and in my company my bosses and
most of my colleagues are now on water and salt. (By "salt"
I mean the pure, unadulterated rock salt (Himalayan salt), not that cocktail
of toxic chemicals, commonly sold as "table salt".) All of them
say they feel better, have minimal migraines, if at all. Some of
them lost weight as well. Water, such a simple, yet such a great thing!"

BREAST CANCER
Dear Phillip. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer on February
27th 2006 (how that date sticks in my mind). After going on
a Nile cruise (which my husband and I had already booked) with 20 books
and various articles on cancer, I decided I would try and build up my
immune system before I had any treatment. Two years later, I am healthier
and fitter than ever, although I still have the tumour in my breast, which
gives me no trouble and I have not had any conventional treatment. No
mastectomy, no radiation and no hormone treatment.
After my cruise down the Nile, The
first area I decided to tackle was, to look at the food I was eating.
I changed my diet radically, clearing out the cupboards, putting the sugar,
coffee, tea on a shelf outside the kitchen, still necessary for builders,
etc! I decided all guests would eat my food, which I think is equally
as delicious. I take the attitude that I am in a different part of the
world and only these ingredients are available. I do not use recipe books.
I enjoy being creative and thinking up new combinations. For me as an
artist, colour and presentation are always important.
My husband agreed to eat the food
I made and enjoys it as much as I do. Within two months we had both lost
two stone in weight. I went from
fourteen stone to twelve stone and now weigh nine and a half stone, the
ideal weight for my height. I have been this weight for a year now. The
migraines I had had for thirty years, three days a month, every month
disappeared, aches and pains went, mood swings stabilised. I was much
nicer to live with and could walk up hills without getting out of breath.
What a change. Why had I not done it earlier? My doctor always just said,
“Eat less”. I now eat as much as I want and never feel hungry.
My first step was to stop buying any wheat, dairy, sugar, caffeine,
and alcohol and cut down radically on processed foods. I now also avoid
gluten and yeast. I drink between 6 and 8 glasses of water a day. I love
to whiz through the supermarket, (if I do have to go), ignoring most of
the shelves. I eat mainly organic and as locally produced as I can. My
food bills are not that more than they used to be, as what I am eating
is more nutritious and so I need less of it to satisfy my hunger. Diane T, Petersfield, UK
BACTERIAL
INFECTION
Dear
Phillip. I am 71 years old. In 2001 I contracted Golden Staff
from infected chicken at the supermarket and our doctor, who is also a
naturopath, recommended I have my leg amputated. It was very bad by that
stage - 4 times the normal size, dark red and bubbling with bacteria.
However I declined as it had already started on the other leg and
I am a keen tennis player. I had tried all the herbs in my garden.
I have only found three things that helped at all – Neways
Cascading Revenol made into a paste and spread all over the bacteria -
the bacteria hate it. The second thing is colloidal silver but that would
not have worked without item 1 as it is much less powerful and is good
for fast action on a future breakout. The last and a very successful
solution was bathing in sea water. It seemed to get rid of the scars.
Not living close to the sea, I have used Celtic Sea Salt, grey colour,
to make my own seawater. This works also on fungus such as Candida and
Lichen Planus and for eye infections and fiery sore throats. We
use Celtic Sea salt for all cooking purposes and as table salt. It keeps
our bones strong and provides a huge range of minerals in a natural, mixed
way without raising our blood pressure. I think of it as equivalent to
a “salt cow lick”.
I used the same three remedies when a car drove into
my stopped car at the lights and the staff broke out down my spine after
the impact. It took just 3 days to get rid of it all. Two others who got
the same infection in 2001 are dead after taking antibiotics, even intravenously,
for a couple of years. I am alive and very well. Pat S, Victoria, Australia
CELLULAR AGE
Dear Phillip. I have
studied nutrition for the past 40 years, however until several years ago,
I did not believe in drinking unless I was thirsty. After all, it
made sense to me, drink when thirsty and eat when hungry. I ate healthy,
organic food and exercised regularly. I did not drink or smoke or
consume carbonated drinks. I rarely became thirsty and seldom,
if ever, drank water. In spite of this, I believed I was healthy, felt
well, slept well and had no disease that I was aware of.
However when a cellular test became available
(this is something that tests the cells in the body and can tell ones
biological age as opposed to ones chronological age.),
I fronted up to the doctor, expecting
to be told I was at least 10 years younger, since I was often told I looked
and acted much younger. Imagine my dismay when I was told my cellular
age was 86 years. At the time I was in my early 60s. I was
then informed by the doctor that the reason (which showed up how much
fluid was actually getting into the cells) was that I was dehydrated and
needed to drink at least 2 litres of water a day.
I explained that I was not thirsty and
why should I drink. So as not to preamble, I began drinking the required
amount and 6 months later returned for another test, I had already knocked
off 10 years and was quite gobsmacked. This was before I read Dr. Batman’s
books and have since been teaching others about water and salt.
Consuming a glass of water with a pinch
of salt will immediately rid one of a headache or fatigue. It is amazing
how many people have taken salt out of their diet and after adding this
(the right salt, of course) their energy picks up almost immediately.
One man undergoing treatment for chronic
fatigue (and getting nowhere fast) began drinking water and salt. Within
2 weeks he was "firing on all pistons" and passing on the info
to his children! Maxine B
OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear Phillip. As a child
I loved drinking a glass of cold milk. I can still remember the euphoric
taste as I thirstily gulped it down. As my wisdom grew,
I decided that milk probably wasn't the best thing for me to drink, especially
in its denatured, modernised form. I moved onto rain water, bypassing
tap water due to the fact that I live in a place that has particularly
bad tasting, additive-laced water. I found it difficult drinking
a lot of rain water, given that 2L per day is the recommendation.
I discovered concentrated liquid sea salt and added a few drops to
each glass, and to my surprise found the water much easier to drink.
If I closed my eyes, it even tasted like the milk I remembered from my
childhood.
I have no medical documentation of its
effects because I don't need that to know that it is doing me good. Other
people regularly comment on my energy levels. During the 'salt revolution'
of the 70's, our family took salt out of our diet. Thankfully we
have progressed to adding sea salt back into it. My mother, now
81, was diagnosed a few years ago with osteoporosis. We have all
found this difficult to believe, given our focus on healthy eating.
This puzzle was recently solved with your article on how the minerals
in sea salt help the body to produce strong, healthy bones. We
gave up processed salt, for good reason, a long time ago but my mother having
recently added sea salt to her diet, has resulted in having a
recent osteoporosis test showing an improvement in her bone density.
Such a cheap remedy with no side-effects. Margaret H, Henley Beach South, Australia
PANIC ATTACKS
Dear Phillip. I had started
suffering panic attacks, which happened between 3am -4am in the morning. Preferring
a more holistic approach, I read what I could on the subject and
realized I was causing them and could therefore control them. I also understood
how the body reacts in a fight or flight situation and what happens to
the water in your body during that time. My body was depleted of water
during that time because periods of stress caused me to drink more coffee
and tea than normal and little water. So I started sipping water regularly
every day, and not drinking huge amounts all at nce, and in no time at
all my panic attacks disappeared. I still have to deal with my stress
problems, but I now understand my body’s need for water and can therefore
address any problems by correcting the water balance. Hazel

GENERAL
Dear Phillip. We started drinking water
with salt after listening to Dr Batmanghelidj's DVD on Hydration. At the
outset we wish to express our delight that Phillip Day has taken on the
mission assigned to him by the doctor’s estate. Like most basic truths
they get lost in the plethora of modern medicine and corporate advertising.
I am a full-time practising lawyer (67 years old) and I run 7 kilometres
twice a week. In relation to my own anecdotal experience, I have found
that
running several small businesses involves long, demanding hours. The
water
and mineralised salt (Celtic sea salt) re-energises me constantly throughout
the day. I endeavour to drink daily 2 litres of water with mineralised
salt
that enables me to achieve work objectives. Arthur L, ^^^
JUST WATER
Dear Phillip. Some years ago
when I was teaching a grade 2 class we had a small water-tank in the room
and each child had their own mug. The children were allowed to help
themselves to a drink of water at anytime during class (no more than 2
at a time). I found that the children were able to work as productively
during the afternoon session up to 3:30pm as they did in the morning sessions.
In many classes it was common for children to tire after lunch and particularly
during the last hour of school. Some children would say they didn't like
drinking out of the 'germy' water taps in the schoolyard but in the classroom,
drinking was regarded as normal. Elaine

TEETH AND WOUNDS
Dear
Phillip. I have been making and using sole for over 20 years. I use it straight to clean my teeth, watered
down for gargling. I often put a few drops in my ears if I feel a flu
around. I haven’t had a cold for over 20 years. It is also amazing to
put a few drops on a “Band-Aid” and cover a wound. I don’t wash the wound
at all just cover it with sole
and keep wetting the “Band-Aid” with sole
for a few days. It is amazing how quickly and cleanly it heals. Barbara E, New South Wales, Australia
REFLUX
Dear Phillip. For many years I had periodic recurrence
of acidity in my digestive system, for which my doctor prescribed antacid
medicine. After reading the Dr Batmanghelidj’s book on water, I only drank
a lot of water when it occurred, within a half hour it would be eased.
I rarely experience this any more but when I do water cures it.
