Walnuts

Finally, those walnuts recently featured in [my] column as a potential remedy for insomnia have further benefits, as a reader from Chester reports. Since she started taking three before retiring, she has enjoyed about six hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. "But what has amazed me," she writes, "is the difference they have made to my fingernails."

She has been troubled by brittle nails all her life, for which she has tried virtually everything including zinc, evening primrose oil and iron. But since starting her walnut regime, they are now "strong and growing well."
